2025 East Gippsland Stray

Thanks for a great ride everyone and thanks for the comments on here I appreciate it
I was a bit nervous taking over from Charles and leading on unfamiliar roads, especially heading out of Melbourne so thanks Mick and Don for leading us through the suburbs. Also thanks to Brian for being Tail End Charlie on the ride.

My trip went as follows
I left Sydney on Thursday morning by car with the Interceptor in my Toy Hauler caravan and stayed the night in Beechworth
Friday morning I unloaded the bike and put the rig into storage at the caravan park
I rode to Melbourne and stayed in a Motel near the Racecourse hotel and had dinner and a few beers with Anthony and then watched the Swans lose to Hawthorn on the TV.

After a delayed start we got thru the traffic and stopped at a cafe in Lilydale for morning tea and then rode some great mountain roads to Mansfield for lunch which was very busy. Next stops were Milwa for a quick beer and then Beechworth for fuel before arriving a Mitta Mitta.

Sunday we rode to catch up with Beetle and Trish for morning tea at Tallangatta then around Lake Hume and along the Murray River on some excellent roads to Walwa for lunch and fuel. We then crossed into NSW at Towong and up into the alpine along the Elliot way which has amazing scenery and steep mountains following the Tumut River and then through the Kiandra Goldfields to Dalgety.

Monday we rode to Bombala for morning tea and fuel and then down the Bonang to Orbost for lunch and to Bruthen

Tuesday left Bruthen and headed into the mist and fog for Omeo hoping it would not start pissing down as my rear tyre was almost bald in the centre. By the time I got to the top the light rain had stopped and the sun came out so I had a pie and fuel stop there and went through Mt Hotham and Bright and back to Beechworth for the night.

Wednesday I loaded up the bike into the back of the caravan and drove home

I didn’t keep my mileage figures but I guess it was about 1300km in the car and 2300km on the bike
